We had received indications that the Chinese Government was seeking to punish our client, a global conglomerate, for buying a company that gave the client unprecedented control over a natural resource in Eurasia crucial to Chinese core interests. Our client had not been aware of Beijing’s concern, and asked for our help.

We were able to identify the specific motivations and actors behind the Chinese pushback. Based on this research and our analysis, we helped our client develop a unique solution that would assuage the Chinese: selling them a portion of the company.
