Rich Oppel

Rich Oppel is a Senior Advisor to Crumpton Global. Previously, he led the firm’s global impact and public risk strategy practices. Rich counsels clients on factoring public trust into the analysis of major decisions and leveraging corporate reputation as competitive advantage. A graduate of Duke University, Rich began his career in journalism covering business and politics for newspapers in Texas before joining The New York Times, where for two decades he covered domestic and foreign affairs. He was part of a team that won the Pulitzer Prize for public service for coverage of the coronavirus pandemic, and he was also a member of the team that was a Pulitzer finalist for Iraq coverage. He is based in Dallas.
